There are many areas to consider when buying property and obviously it helps if you can narrow your search.  The three main areas to consider are:  the black sea coast, the ski resorts and mountain regions or property in the more rural areas.

In the rural areas, tranquillity and rustic solitude are easily obtainable for the price tag of just £3000.  Properties for this price will need considerable renovation but the location and the land are well worth the price alone.  A habitable rural property that needs minor work can be snapped up for between £12,000 and £15,000.  A brand new apartment in a ski resort can cost as little as £38,000.

Restrictions on Foreigners

Currently there are still restrictions on foreigners buying land in Bulgaria but it is easy to purchase property by setting up a company which is a very quick and simple process and can be done within a day.  For more detailed information please see my book "How to Buy Property in Bulgaria"

Cost of Living

'A quiet night in' should definitely not be on the agenda in Bulgaria with good food and wine as inexpensive as it is.

Eating out is a complete pleasure, as the restaurant bill will be lower than you have ever experienced in the UK.  A huge mixed salad, a glass of wine and a bottle of mineral water for lunch can be just £1.20.  A three course meal in the evening with wine would be just £5.00.
